Bed Bug Bites - How To Treat Them

!: Bed Bug Bites - How To Treat Them

Having bed bug bites all over your body could be one of your horrendous experience in life. Imagine waking up from your sleep only to be greeted by itchy red marks instead of being greeted with the smile of your wife and kids. Most people can't bear the itchiness of the bites and start scratching all over the place. Some can just leave the marks like that and let them disappear slowly without treating the bites properly. The best practice would be to treat the bed bug bites so that your skin is free from infection, as well as reducing the itchiness and the swelling of the bites. But how would you treat the bites? That's the question that most people are searching for the answer every single day.

From my experience dealing with bed bug bites, the most important step of all is to try and reduce the chances of bed bugs lying around your bedroom area. Prevention is better than cure and hygiene is the key. Always make sure that every crease of your bed is free from bed bug eggs. If however the bed bugs manage to sneak into your household, there are several things that you could do to prepare yourself against bed bugs. What I did before going to sleep was to apply some calamine lotions on my arms and neck. In other words, just apply the lotion on the exposed areas of your body. Somehow it worked like a charm for me. I figured that the chemical in the lotion must have driven the bed bugs away from me. I have no scientific evidence for it but my experience taught me that this is one of the best solutions to prevent the bugs from biting every inch of your body. The best bit is, calamine lotion is easy to find in stores and it's cheap as well. If you happened to be bitten by the bugs already, you can also apply calamine lotion on the bites to ease the itchiness and reduce the swelling that resulted because of the bites

If you could not find any calamine lotion in your areas, then another solution is to apply antiseptic cream on the bites. Apart from reducing the itchiness and the swelling, it also helps to reduce the risk of infection on the bed bug bites itself. Excessive scratching of the bites can easily increase the probability that it will become infected. If that is the case, applying the antiseptic cream on the infected areas is a good preliminary action to take. It is recommended however, that you seek immediate help from your personal doctor for further treatment such as taking oral antibiotics and such.

As I have mentioned before, prevention is still better than cure. It's quite a painful experience having to deal with the bites which can sometimes take all day long before the red marks are finally gone. So taking extra precaution steps and making sure that your household is free from bed bugs are essential for your ease of mind
